The Verified Carbon Standard, managed by Verra, is one of the most widely recognised carbon credit certification systems in the world. It provides rules for measuring, monitoring and independently verifying projects that reduce or remove greenhouse gas emissions. Approved projects can generate Verified Carbon Units, with each unit representing one tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent. The standard is commonly used for forestry, renewable energy, methane reduction, agriculture and carbon removal projects.
