Meet the Team

Behind Buy From Farmers Direct is a team of people working to make British local food easier to find, easier to understand and easier to support.

We believe farmers, farm shops, growers, markets and specialist producers deserve better visibility. We also believe shoppers deserve clearer routes to local food, honest information and stronger connections with the people producing what they eat.

Meet the people helping to build BFFD, shape its mission and support the communities at the heart of British food.

Built by People Who Care About You

BFFD is not just a directory. It is a practical response to a growing problem: too many brilliant British food producers are difficult to find online, while too many shoppers want to buy local but do not know where to begin.

Our team is building a platform that brings those two sides closer together. Every page, listing, guide and campaign is shaped around a simple aim: helping people find better food closer to home while giving producers a stronger voice in the digital world.

The Values Behind Our Work

Transparency

We believe people should have clear information about who they are buying from, where food comes from and how suppliers can be contacted.

Usefulness

Every guide, listing and resource should help someone make a clearer decision, whether they are a shopper, supplier, partner or supporter.

Local Connection

We want to strengthen the relationship between communities and the people producing food nearby.

Respect for Producers

BFFD is built to give farmers, growers, makers and independent food businesses more visibility and a stronger voice.

Practical Education

We aim to make food knowledge easier to understand, from seasonality and sourcing to specialist produce and direct buying.

Long Term Trust

The platform is being built carefully, with space for supplier updates, partner recognition, verification and clearer user guidance as it grows.

How We Work With Farmers, Producers and Partners

Our work is collaborative. We listen to suppliers, learn from producers, build around real user needs and shape our content around the questions people are already asking.

As BFFD grows, we will continue working with farmers, farm shops, local food businesses, creators, rural organisations and supporters to improve the way people find and understand British food.

Advisors, Contributors and Supporters

BFFD will continue to grow with the help of contributors, supporters and partners who understand British food, farming and local supply.

This section recognises the people who share their knowledge, lend their experience, support the mission or help bring more visibility to producers across the UK.

Meet the People We Are Here to Support

The most important people in the BFFD story are the farmers, growers, makers, sellers and shoppers who make local food matter.

Our team is here to support the people producing, selling and choosing British food every day. From a small egg producer to a family farm shop, from a cheesemaker to a farmers market organiser, from a local shopper to a school looking at food education, BFFD is being built around the people who keep food close to home.

Join the Mission

BFFD is growing, and we are always open to people who want to support British farmers, local food and stronger rural communities. Whether you are a supplier, partner, creator, contributor or local food supporter, there is a place for you in the wider BFFD mission.
