The Puro Standard focuses specifically on durable carbon dioxide removal. It certifies projects that physically remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it for extended periods. Approved methods include biochar, carbonated building materials and other engineered removal technologies. Certified projects issue CO₂ Removal Certificates, known as CORCs, with each certificate representing one tonne of carbon dioxide removed and stored according to the standard’s methodology and verification requirements.
